Underworld Lake

THE SWOLLEN, SWEET fragrance of lilies and lilacs floated across the caverns’s lake. Black lightless ripples lapped against the glistening stony shore. Globules of glass-like rock glittered, inflamed with a volcanoe’s breath, each dazzling as a thousand colors flickered inside.

Prancing down the winding stairwell carved into the stone, —- hoisted her basket higher up in her arms….
