Mist curled through the forest, kissing the golden and red leaves. A few quivered in shyness, but most remained limp, weighted down by raindrops. Slinking alongside the mist, a shimmering figure, half visible, half insubstantial, swept past the trees. Like a flash of light through a wet prism, rainbows smudged the air, smeared glittery ghosts of radiant color. Only the leaves were witnesses to its passage. And then, before even the birds could awake, it vanished.
